The Best of 2017

Hello all! Happy New Year! It’s 2018 – another day, another year. This post will feature a collection of a collection of life lessons/advice, quotes, products and posts that were especially wonderful for me in 2017. Let’s get right into it!

Life Lessons/Advice

Some friendly reminders to remember as you head into the New Year.

  1. Go Outside Your Comfort Zone
    • Do activities you’d never think of doing before, like bungee jumping, rock climbing, or even parasailing! You’ll grow and learn so much more about yourself as you experience new things.
  2. Kindness is SO Important
    • I mean, I knew that already, but I got to see it in action this year. Good things happen to good people. The smallest things, like asking someone how their day went, means so much to people. Take the time to be kind.
  3. Avoid Sugar or Junk Food on an Empty Stomach
    • I noticed that when I was hungry and reached for a cookie instead of a salad, my mood would plummet. I could never avoid sugar at all costs, and I don’t want to hold myself to an unattainable expectation. But I am working to eat healthier when I’m hungry.
  4. You Can Handle More Than You Think
    • Even if you think you can’t, you can. You have more strength than you think. Keep persisting.
  5. Believing is Powerful
    • If you believe you can do something, you can. Or at least come close to it. When you believe something, you are focused on attaining it. You’re putting emotion, passion, and work into a hope. That hope will become reality. Keep believing.
  6. You Don’t Have to Say Yes to Everything
    • You have no obligation to do anything you don’t want to. It’s simple as that. You can say no. (Read my post on WHEN, WHY, and HOW to Say NO if you’re looking for help.)
  7. Don’t Overthink Everything
    • Sometimes things are just simple. A conversation, a text message, an email… sometimes these things don’t require so much scrutiny. Most of the time, people are being straightforward with you.
  8. Be Straightforward
    • Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
  9. Voice Your Opinion
    • You have a voice, and you have to use it. Whether that be writing a letter to a company, choosing what game you want to play at a party, what food you want to eat at a friend’s house, or making a speech somewhere! – Do it.
  10. Go After What You Want
    • Maybe you want that job, that promotion, that dress! – Go after what you want on your own terms. Set goals and achieve them.

Shampoos

  1. Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter Shampoo – ♥♥♥♥
    • My hair smells amazing after I use this shampoo, and feels amazing too! It’s soft, strengthened, and shiny. Highly recommend!
  2. Raspberry Sorbet Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath by Philosophy – ♥♥♥♥♥
    • Granted this one is a bit of a splurge (coming in at around $18), but I received it as a gift and use it as a shampoo. My hair was so incredibly soft after just one day of use! The shampoo is a deep pink color and translucent (it had a shimmery quality to it.) It lathers well, is super sudsy, and the smell is FABULOUS! It doesn’t smell synthetic at all. It truly smells like raspberries – like when you walk past a raspberry bush!

    • It got rid of the dandruff and left my hair feeling soft and light.
